I'm writing a book!
Alice Piper Speaks Up is forthcoming from Heyday Books, part of their Standing Up for Justice series. These books educate middle-grade readers about social justice figures who aren't as well known. Alice Piper was a 15-year-old Paiute girl who, in 1924, petitioned the California Supreme Court to allow Native American children to attend the same schools as white students—and she won. As a member of the Big Pine Paiute Tribe (and someone who went to the same school that Alice fought to attend), I am incredibly honored to be part of this project and I'm very excited to share it with the world soon.
