A little peek into my creative world
In 2001, I won my first creative writing award for a short story I wrote about my mom taking me to the park. Kindergarten-Loralee was incredibly excited to read this little piece out loud at a special assembly called Author’s Chair, and it was from that moment on that I knew I wanted to be a writer. Growing up, I read voraciously and wrote even more, from horror stories about a werewolf terrorizing a summer camp to emo poems reflecting my cringe-worthy teenage ennui.
I’ve dedicated my entire adult life to the study and craft of writing—I hold a BA in English (Creative Writing) from Stanford University and an MFA in Creative Writing (Poetry) from the Institute of American Indian Arts. I’m excited to share my recent creative projects here; hopefully, there will be many more to come.
